Austin Metro Entertainment (AME) is an on line entertainment and live music guide for Austin and Central Texas since September 1993, with entertainment ranging from children and family, to more adult live music venues.
Entertainment and events listed within AME are submitted by the venues, clubs, artist, bands, organizations, etc, or their agent. AME does not retrieve information from websites or other third party publications. AME will on occasions, publish special events from other area within the State of Texas and maintains a "Public Service Announcements" page for non-entertainment information.
Your calendar or event will be listed free of any charges or obligations and there are no deadlines to meet. However! I would encourage you to submit your calendar or event as early as possible in order to get it indexed into Yahoo and Google search engines. Your calendar or event information will be updated with any follow-up press releases.
Each week AME will fax or email the Limited Engagement calendar (Wednesday night) and the Live Music Calendar (Thursday night) to area Hotels/Motels, Visitors Center and other related services. If you would like to be on the mailing list for either or both calendars, notify AME via email at info@austinmetro.com
AME is indexed by both Yahoo and Google search engines weekly and is listed in the top 5 on both.
NOTE: AME reserve the right to not publish an event, activity or other information if we judge it to be unsuitable for this market.
Also! Note that AME does not regard any religious worship service as "entertainment" regardless of who is singing in the choir. Of course there are some exceptions.

History
In August 1993 DS&F Communications start publishing "Austin Metro Information (AMI)" a 2-line, local dial-up BBS system, and in September of that year started listing Austin area Live Music, Entertainment and Activities. AMI was the first such online system to be totally dedicated to Live Music and Entertainment in the Austin area and at it's height the BBS was averaging 50-75 hits a day.
In 1995, the name was changed to Austin Metro Entertainment(AME) to more reflect the true nature of the site and help eliminate the confusion between Austin Metro Information with Capitol Metro Information. I'm sure you can see the problem.
In September '96 AME installed it's own Internet server and ISDN line to allow for global access to AME's information. At this point, I was both a "sysop" and "webmaster" with information that had to be formatted differently for each site.
In June of '97, AME started covering Live Music Scene State wide, so that now, live music performances from musicians and venues from within the State were available.
In June '99 the servers were removed in favor of using a web hosting to lower cost and eliminate hardware and software maintenance, thus shutting down the BBS & Telnet systems which were by now almost obsolete.
As of Christmas Day 2002, Austin Metro Entertainment was ranked #1 on both YAHOO and GOOGLE when searching for “Austin Entertainment”. Now comes the hard part of staying #1.
How To Get Your Information Included.
To have your entertainment information included at no cost, you may EMAIL, FAX: (512)-251-1909 or Snail Mail your information to AME. (mailing address: see bottom of this page) In most case the database will be updated within 24 hours and any "short notices" (less the 24 hours) will get included if time permits. Again, early submission of your schedule or calendar is strongly recommended.
Bands and Venue Performance Schedule
When submitting the entertainment calendar/schedule for a Venue1, Band, Group or single musician, always include the BAND NAME, DATE, VENUE, CITY, and Time, Cover/Door (if any) when possible. You may use the
to submit performances or add
to you mailing list.
Events and Activities Information
When submitting any Limited Engagement Entertainment Event2 or Ongoing Activity3 you may either use the Event Form, or fax or email a press release. I will usually contact the Business office of the event before posting the event.
NOTE: Submission of an event does not guarantee a listing.
Venue Listings Information
NOTE: As of 7/1/05 we will add only those venuse who provide AME with their Live Music Calendars or Events listings.
To add, update or remove a venue, fill out and submit the Venue Information Form. The "Venue Information" database will be updated within 24 hours in most all cases. Since venues close without my knowledge, feel free to submit a "Remove Venue" request for any venue that has closed it's doors.

[event2 - any type entertainment or activities with a limited life and happening once or twice a year, such as a festival, display/art, concert, showcase, rodeo, carnival, fund raiser, live theatre/play, sporting event, comedy club performer, etc. for all ages. (As always there are exceptions)]
[activity3 - any type entertainment or activities scheduled daily, weekly or monthly such as a comedy club, sports group, museum, tour, jam session, dance class, or any ongoing tourist or recreational activities for all ages. (As always there are exceptions)]

DS&F Communications' Privacy Policy.
DS&F Communications, publisher of Austin Metro Entertainment, take your privacy seriously, and does not collect "personally identifiable information4" from server logs, your browser or our forms for the purpose of selling, trading or renting to others.
DS&F Communications will not send personally identifiable information about you, to other companies or individual/s for any reason, but we will respond to subpoenas, court orders or legal process for information.
DS&F Communications does not set cookies on your computer*, nor do we allow other companies that are presenting advertisements on any of our pages to set cookies on your computer from those advertisements.
*As of Sunday August 1st, 2004 Austin Metro Entertainment started setting a "Type Connection" cookie on your PC when you access the Live Music Listings. This cookie will only effect "dial-up" users with 56k modems or less. High speed users will see no change.
DS&F Communications does not publish the names, address or phone number of "Home Concerts" with out the consent of the full time occupants and or the owner.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
DS&F Communications may edit this policy from time to time. If I make any substantial changes we will notify you by posting a prominent announcement on our pages.
